Karen Strid-Chadwick is a long time resident of Alaska and is an Associate Professor of Music at UAA.  Aside from her regular teaching schedule, she coordinates all of the UAA jazz activities and co-produces UAA Jazz Week.  Karen resides in Homer and her credits include:  Co-founder and leader of the Karen Strid Quartet and the UAA Faculty Jazz Trio as well as arranger, conductor, and performer for various groups in the Anchorage and Homer areas.  In the past, she has performed with visiting artists Bobby Shew, Richie Cole, Mel Brown, Ed Shaunessey, Don Lanphere, Randy Sabien, Carl Fontana, Jay Thomas and O.C. Smith.  She received the Master of Arts in Music from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the Bachelor of Music (theory and composition) from Washington State University.
