The UAA Alaska Native Oratory Society Prelim Competition or AkNOS will be held on Thursday November 29th on the UAA campus in the Social Sciences Building (SSB), Room 119. Check-in will begin at 6pm and the AkNOS Prelim will start at 6:30pm. AkNOS is open to all Native and Non-Native college and High School students who are registered at least part-time. Eligible students can participate in one or more of four speaking categories: Oratory, Declamation, Storytelling, & Native Languages. These four categories award prizes to the top three contestants in each category. This year we're also happy to include for the third year a new category, Traditional Introductions. This category is a People's Choice award category. We've included it to encourage students to learn how to formally introduce themselves in the style of their communities and regions.

The 2007 Alaska Native Oratory Society Prelim will be held in the Social Sciences Building on the UAA campus.

From Northern Lights turn onto UAA Drive and make a left hand turn onto Alumni Loop. Turn right into the parking lot in front of the UAA Parking Garage.
From Tudor turn north onto Bragaw Street then make a left hand turn onto Providence Drive (at the 3-way stop). Next make a right hand turn at the second light onto UAA Drive. Take a right hand turn onto Alumni Loop. Turn right into the parking lot in front of the UAA Parking Garage.

The Social Sciences Building (SSB) is located between the UAA Parking Garage and the Consortium Library. Enter the building by the Parking Garage. The AkNOS Prelim will be held in SSB, Room 119.
