AkNOS Heritage Month 2007 Prelim
Alaska Native Oratory Society Heritage Month Prelim Competition Thursday November 29, 2007 Social Sciences Building, Room 119 on the UAA Campus Your Voices Our Future | The UAA Alaska Native Oratory Society Prelim Competition or AkNOS will be held on Thursday November 29th on the UAA campus in the Social Sciences Building (SSB), Room 119. Check-in will begin at 6pm and the AkNOS Prelim will start at 6:30pm. AkNOS is open to all Native and Non-Native college and High School students who are registered at least part-time. Eligible students can participate in one or more of four speaking categories: Oratory, Declamation, Storytelling, & Native Languages. These four categories award prizes to the top three contestants in each category. This year we're also happy to include for the third year a new category, Traditional Introductions. This category is a People's Choice award category. We've included it to encourage students to learn how to formally introduce themselves in the style of their communities and regions. | Online Registration makes it easy to register. Watch the website for information about the AkNOS help sessions in Native Student Services and the Cama-i Room on the UAA campus. | |
