One of the ways UAA demonstrates its engagement in the community is by being a part of the annual United Way/Alaska Community Share drive, known on campus as the UAA Community Campaign.
This year the campaign runs from November 3 to December 10. The web auction will go on-line next Tuesday, Nov. 23.
Remember, this is a “reverse auction,” where the goal is not to find a bargain but to bid items to their maximum amount for a great cause. Watch for information in News Digest.
UAA is trying to increase the overall number of contributors this year. Whatever amount you can give - $10, $50, $100 – is vitally important. Our monetary goal this year is $60,000, which is 10% more than collected in 2003.
As of Nov. 11, nine days after launch of the Campaign, UAA faculty and staff have already donated $14,688. That’s a great start – let’s keep the momentum going!
Throughout November we will be telling the Community Campaign story to individuals and groups across the campus. Open your mind, your heart, and your wallet, and join your coworkers in the Community Campaign. In the words of Anne Frank: “No one has ever become poor by giving”.
