FLEUR - Faculty Leadership in Expanding Undergraduate Research

The Faculty Leadership in Expanding Undergraduate Research (FLEUR) Award is an award to faculty that funds up to $5000 in project costs of which $2500 may be applied toward a faculty non-credit overload.

The intent of FLEUR is to support a faculty member that proposes to integrate original research efforts into an undergraduate course. Students in the course will play an active role in conducting the research thereby adding active discovery and inquiry into their learning experience. There are two versions of FLEUR; one for proposals related to health and wellness (funded by the Alaska Cardiovascular Research Institute) and one for proposals outside of health and wellness.

Message to Faculty

"As faculty, we have dedicated ourselves to engaging our students in the dynamic process of discovery through undergraduate research.  We have gone that extra mile in our classrooms, laboratories and in the field, and we have mentored students in their independent studies and thesis projects.  We know that research provides invaluable opportunities that are springboards to success-- to graduate degrees at top-notch universities and to gaining essential experience for careers in many fields. Our students are going places and we are proud of them!"

--Dr. LeeAnn Munk,
Associate Professor and Past Faculty Associate,
