UAA REU Program in Alaska - Summer 2008

The Department of Biological Sciences at UAA is proud to host a NSF-funded summer research program for undergraduates.  The 10-week program actively engages eight students in independent research in the areas of high latitute Ecology and Physiology Ecology.  Southcentral Alaska offers exciting and truly unparalleled opportunities for students to particate in research in these fields and the Department of Biological Sciences is particularly strong in these areas.  Students will have the opportunity to work on projects ranging from the molecular level to the ecosystem level, with potential research questions addressing terrestrial, marine, and/or freshwater species and habitats.  Many projects will include both laboratory and field components.

The program includes filedtrips, guest speakers, career development workshops, social activities, and a student research symposium.  Outstanding undergraduate students from underrepresented minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applications are due February 15, 2008.

Visit the Biological Sciences REU website for application information.
