Community Campus Delegation 801: Position Descriptions

Purpose

To specify the community campus delegation authority for position descriptions.

Policy

Delegation Authority
Classification and reclassification authority for Exempt, Non-Exempt and Faculty positions is retained at the UAA Human Resource Services.

The Directors/President have the following authority:
  1. Authority to restructure a position by adding, deleting, or changing essential job functions. Changes to Director or President level positions are excluded and require the approval of the Chancellor.
  2. Authority to approve prepared Position Description Forms (PD) as submitted by supervisors and the recommendation of a proposed salary range. The PD’s must be submitted to UAA Human Resource Services for evaluation/reevaluation and salary placement.
Delegation Criteria
Adherence to policy and regulation including:
  1. Maintaining, on file, the position descriptions of all positions at the campus.
  2. Placing all positions within the salary range authority delegated to the Directors/President.
Applicability
All community campuses have the limited delegation authority for position descriptions expressed in this policy unless special limits or requirements are set by the Vice Chancellor for Administration.
