Biography
Kathryn Hohman Billmeier is an adjunct professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Alaska Anchorage where she teaches “Introduction to American Government”. In addition, she convenes the course “Women and Social Action” in the Departments of Sociology and Women’s Studies.
Kathryn’s academic background is in international development studies. She has recently completed research in Nepal where she is studying the war-to-peace transition. Her interests include violence/ war/conflict/post-conflict, development, gender, south and central Asia, and qualitative research methodologies.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE Kathryn worked, from 2004-2007 and again in 2008, at the Washington, DC and London, UK offices of the INGO Women for Women International in various capacities. During her time with the organization she focused on furthering income generation projects in the organization’s field offices. Further, she assisted with the preparation and research monitoring of the “Stronger Women Stronger Nations” Afghanistan Report.
