Senior Exit Exam

All psychology majors must take the Senior Exit Exam prior to graduation. The proctored exam is typically administered twice each semester and once during each of the five-week Summer Sessions. Students should plan to take the exam in the semester in which they plan to graduate. There is no cost for the exam when taken as scheduled. The department attempts to notify, in writing, all students who have applied for graduation of the date, time, and location of the exam.

The Senior Exit Exam is a national standardized knowledge test of psychology that covers the eight core areas of study emphasized in the Psychology major requirements. The test consists of 8 sections of 20 multiple choice questions each. The psychology topics covered in the exam include:

  • Life Span Development
  • Abnormal Psychology
  • Biological Psychology
  • Research Methods
  • Statistics
  • Learning & Cognition Personality
  • Social Psychology

The scores provide a measurement of the overall knowledge base of graduating seniors and are used by faculty in making program decisions. No minimum score is required. For additional information students should contact their academic advisors.
