The most up-to-date information about transfer credits at the University of Alaska Anchorage can be found on our Transfer Credit Resource site. Select the "Transfer Credit Resource Site" option from the menu, and follow the prompts.

Where possible, transfer credit is equated with UAA courses. When this is not possible, evaluators may grant specifically designed elective credit to meet a General Education Requirement. Only course work that clearly and demonstrably satisfies the intent of a UAA General Education or College Requirement can be accepted as a substitute. UAA reserves the right to reject transfer credit or to require an examination before credit is allowed. An evaluation of transfer credit is completed after a student has been admitted as a degree-seeking student.

1. Transfer credit is accepted only from institutions in the United State fully accredited by one of the following regional accrediting associations:
2. • Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
   • New England Association of Schools and Colleges
   • North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
   • Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities
   • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
   • Western Association of Schools and Colleges
3. Only undergraduate college-level (100 to 499) courses completed with grades equal to "C" (2.00) or higher are considered for transfer.
4. Students who plan to transfer credits from outside the United States must provide an official statement of education equivalence from a recommended credential evaluation service. Addresses are available from Enrollment Services. The student is responsible to pay evaluation fees which depend upon the type and complexity of the evaluation.
5. Transfer credits are not included in the student's UAA grade point average (GPA) computation, except to determine eligibility for graduation with honors.
6. Challenge exams and credit by exams posted on another university's transcript will not be considered for transfer credit (for more detail, see the examination portion of this web page).
7. UAF and/or UAS residence credit posted on an official transcript will be transferred to UAA subject to applicability toward degree requirements.
8. Credits from unaccredited institutions are only accepted under special institutional arrangements.
