Procurement Services asks that all faculty and staff take note of the following year-end purchasing deadlines as the fiscal year draws to a close:

April 13 - Purchases requiring sealed bids or proposals ($50,000+)
May 18 - Purchases requiring quotations ($5,000-$50,000)
June 15 - All other purchases, excluding LPO, BPO and ProCard purchases <$5,000

June 30 - Purchases using Limited Purchase Orders (LPOs)
June 30 - Purchases using Blanket Purchase Orders (BPOs)
June 30 - Purchases using a Procurement Card

Dr. Jeffrey Welker, Director of the Environment and Natural Resources Institute (ENRI) and Professor in the College of Arts and Sciences Department of Biological Sciences, was recently awarded the highly prestigious Fulbright U.S. Arctic Chair in a ceremony held in Norway.

The Fulbright Arctic Chair is part of the Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Programs, which are viewed as among the most prestigious appointments in the Fulbright Scholar Program--across the nation and globally.

Our Grants & Contracts office is now fully staffed.  Two new Fund Technicians have been hired.  A revised assignment listing of UAA Schools and Colleges by Grant Coordinator has been posted.  We are excited to introduce our new team members. 

David R. Morgan (drmorgan2@uaa.alaska.edu) is a Fund Technician.  David works with his mentor, Lisa Petitt, to service departments on Team B.

Theresita (Terry) De Mesa (tdemesa@uaa.alaska.edu) is a Fund Technician.   Terry works with her mentor, Melissa Nelson, to service departments on Team A.

This plan to provide service in teams should allow departments/schools/colleges assurance that there will always be staff available who can assist you even if your assigned Grants & Contracts Technician/Coordinator is not available.

Other staff changes at the Grants Office include reassignment of Lisa Pettit (eapettit@uaa.alaska.edu) to Senior Grant Coordinator.  Annette DeBruyn (akdebruyn@uaa.alaska.edu) has been promoted to the position of Senior Grant Accountant. This change is part of a plan to help ensure a smooth transition in this key position before Lisa moves out of state.
