STUDENT POSITION AVAILABLE: Graphics & Marketing Assistant

COMPENSATION: $10.50 per hour

ELIGIBILITY:

Successful candidates must UAA students enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits, with a minimum 2.50 cumulative and semester/term grade point average, and must be in good disciplinary standing.  At the time of appointment and throughout employment, Residence Life student staff members may not be on either disciplinary or academic probation.  Should a student employee be placed on disciplinary or  academic probation, the employee is no longer eligible  for employment.

The Department of Residence Life supports on-campus housing for 950 students and works in partnership with University Housing & Dining Services. Our program provides leadership training, experiential learning, awareness of diverse lifestyles and cultures, co-curricular programs and activities (educational and social), and behavioral accountability. Residence Life's student development approach focuses on enriching each student's higher education experiences by delivering high quality, student-centered programs and services.

The Graphics & Marketing Assistant will work with a group of student leaders and professional staff members to promote their events and other activities in the campus living community.

In addition, the Graphics & Marketing Assistant will provide graphics for articles, fixtures, print, and Web advertising and other materials, and assist with social media marketing as determined by the Department of Residence Life administrative staff. Other duties may involve assisting at events and taking photos for use in print and web publications.

Applicants should be energetic, dynamic, and have a desire to learn and grow. The ability to adapt to changing workloads is essential, as is the ability to create great working relationships with all levels inside the department, and across multiple disciplines.

Applicants must demonstrate creative ability in graphic illustration and design, be familiar with advertisement design principles; be able to work on deadline and work cooperatively with others; and be proficient with Adobe's Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign programs.

Applicants must be reliable, punctual, have a strong work ethic, possess good customer service skills, work well under pressure, and have excellent communication skills. Applicants must demonstrate an ability to write and edit publishable work with attention to grammar, AP Style, spelling, clarity, and accuracy. The ideal candidate will also have experience with social media tools and techniques.
