UAA Kaare Birkeland Norwegian USA Exchange Scholarship

The purpose of the Kaare Birkeland Norwegian/USA Exchange Scholarship is to provide scholarships to full time students enrolled at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and attending either UAA or Stavanger University (SU) in Stavanger, Norway.

Awards shall be made in alternate years to:
  • a student from Stavanger, Norway enrolled at Stavanger University who, for the year the award is in effect, attends and enrolls at UAA.
  • a student from Anchorage, Alaska, enrolled at UAA in Anchorage who, for the year the award is in effect, attends and enrolls at SU.  Such a student must also be enrolled at UAA as a student studying abroad.
Application Procedure:
  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Applicants must complete the UAA Study Abroad Application (available at the International Student Services Office located at the University Center) accompanied by a one-page essay on the following topic:
    • How will study abroad for an academic year at the University of Stavanger in Norway benefit you personally and meet your educational and professional goals?
