The purpose of the Kibrik & Bergelson Study in Russia Scholarship is to offer financial assistance for tuition and other educational expenses including air travel to or from Russia to University of Alaska Anchorage students who are studying in Russia. Preference will be given to those that are majoring in language, communications, and/or anthropology.
Qualifications:
- Applicant must be accepted to an academic program in Russia.
- Applicant must be an excellent representative of the University of Alaska Anchorage.
- Applicant must demonstrate academic excellence, a clear interest in the study of Russia, a solid connection between the study program in Russia and the applicant’s academic and professional goals, and leadership potential.
- Applicants must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Preference will be given to applicants with higher grade point averages.
- Applicant must be formally admitted into an undergraduate, graduate, certificate, and/or vocational degree-seeking program at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
- Applicant must plan on enrolling full-time (twelve (12) credits for undergraduate and nine (9) credits for graduate).
- Applicant must have completed at least one semester at UAA prior to receiving the scholarship.
- Preference will be given to applicants formally admitted into a language, communications, and/or anthropology degree-seeking program.
- Preference will be given to students on an exchange program through UAA.
- Recipient will participate in a public presentation as determined by the selection committee.
- Recipient must communicate with the donor(s) for discussion of education/career goals and objectives.
Forfeiture of Award:
- Does not enroll in the semester in which the award is to be in effect.
- Is placed on academic and/or disciplinary probation.
- Does not meet satisfactory academic progress.
- No longer meets the scholarship qualifications.
