Lillian Smith Scholarship for Teaching Students

The purpose of the Lillian Smith Scholarship for Teaching Students is to provide financial assistance to students at UAA who are studying to become teachers.  It is the donors hope that recipients of this award will, at some time in the future, make a gift to UAA to "repay" the scholarship they have received.

Award amount is a minimum $500 per academic year

Qualifications:

  • Applicant should demonstrate motivation, academic and leadership potential.
  • Applicant must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 for undergraduate and 3.0 for graduate.
  • Applicant must be a full-time student attending UAA (12 credits for undergrad, 9 credits for graduate).
  • Applicant must be fully admitted to an Education degree-seeking program at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
  • Applicant may be an incoming or continuing student at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
  • Applicant may be a U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen, Alaskan resident, or out-of-state resident.
  • Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.
