Overall employment for geomaticians for years 2006 - 2016 is expected to grow much faster than average for all occupations.  The Occupational Outlook Handbook says of the Geomatics industry,  "As technology becomes more complex, opportunities will be best for surveyors, cartographers and photogrammetrists who have a bachelor of science and strong technology skills.  Increasing demand for geographic data, as opposed to traditional surveying services, will mean better opportumnities for cartographers and photogrammetrists who are involved in the development and use of geographic and land information systems."
