Scholarship Projects2011 marks the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, the 35th anniversary of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the 30th anniversary of the Master of Science in Nursing programs within UAA's School of Nursing. The development and success of these programs is driven by a demand for well-educated health care workers in Alaska that is projected to continue to grow in the future. To honor these special anniversaries, the Celebration Committee invites alumni and community members to help us create the following legacies for the benefit of future generations of nursing students in Alaska. New Scholar AwardThe goal of the New Scholar Award is to inspire and motivate strong students to consider pursuing a career as nursing faculty. The New Scholar Award will be a minimum of $2,000 per year to a UAA nursing student for attendance at the Annual Communicating Nursing Research Conference hosted each spring by Western Institute of Nursing (WIN). New Scholar Award recipients will attend the WIN Conference with a faculty mentor where they will present their own research. The first New Scholar Award was made in 2011 launching this exciting new initiative. Nursing Students In Need ScholarshipNursing school is challenging. Many students are financially stretched to the limit during their final year. The Nursing Students in Need Scholarship provides critical support for nursing students who just need a little additional support in the home stretch of their education to fund critical expenses like NCLEX testing fees. In the last five years, over 30 students have received the critical help they needed to successfully finish nursing school and begin their careers as nurses through the Nursing Students in Need Scholarship. Give Your SupportYou can help by making contributions to either the New Scholar Award or Nursing Students In Need Scholarship:
