RRANNThe RRANN Majors group is for students who are Alaska Native or American Indian, in good standing with the University, and enrolled in the School of Nursing classes. In 2006, UAA was 7th in the US for producing Native American students earning Bachelor degrees in Health-related Sciences. 60% of these graduates were RRANN students. Our goal is to have the percentage of Alaska Native/American Indian registered nurses equal the percentage of Alaska Native/American Indian population within the State of Alaska (16%) . Like other RRANN students, the RRANN Majors may request the Nightingale Wing for on-campus housing at UAA. Majors students have access to tutoring services, and often network with each other. Student Success Facilitators lead monthly group meetings, hold individual conferences with students, and work with individual students as needed; as Cheryl Lovegreen puts it, “I’m your head cheerleader and resource finder.” (Services vary slightly depending on the UA campus location; contact RRANN for more details.) To apply for this program, students need to: 1.Complete a general application 2. Complete a stipend application for each trimester 3.Show a CIB or other proof of Alaska Native or American Indian heritage. For more information, please contact Cheryl at ancll1@uaa.alaska.edu or 786-6944. The RRANN program is also available for nursing PRE-MAJORS. RRANN pre-majors must complete one PRE-QUALIFYING semester before qualifying for the monthly STIPENDS. For information on the RRANN PRE-MAJOR PROGRAM please contact: OR VISIT our offices at HSB105.
