Chad Morse MSW Program Coordinator 907-786-6904 UAA's MSW degree is structured to allow students to participate in full-time or part-time programs. The foundation curriculum is comprised of 32 semester credits and is required for students who have not earned a baccalaureate degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program within the last 7 years. The foundation curriculum is sequenced to provide a professional preparation for advanced generalist social work education. All students will waive, test-out or take all foundation courses required in the foundation year of the program.The concentration curriculum is comprised of 31 credits and is required for all MSW students. The concentration sequence provides for breadth and depth in advanced generalist practice Dependent upon prior academic preparation and practice experience, some applicants with a BSW may be approved for advanced placement to the concentration curriculum of the program. The MSW Program does not grant social work course credit for life experience or previous work experience. All students entering the program, regardless of full-time or part-time student status, will do so with an official Graduate Studies Plan tailored to meet their own educational needs. The Master of Social Work degree program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).MSW program admission and curriculum requirements are consistent with MSW licensing requirements for the State of Alaska. |
