Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia: An Overview

Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, their impact on the family and community, and ways to support families and individuals with this very difficult, long term progressive illness that affects both mind and body was the topic of a presentation that took place November 13, 2009 on the UAA campus. This presentation was the first of a two part series offered by the UAA School of Social Work on the topic of Aging. 

 

Certificates of Attendance for 1.5 hours of training were available for each seminar.

The Alzheimer’s Association has an interactive brain tour on their website: "Inside the Brain: An interactive Tour" explains how the brain works and how Alzheimer’s affects it.

 

Dr. Thad Woodard on KSKA Line One: "Your Health Connection interviewed" Dr. Gary Small recently talks about how to detect and treat Alzheimer’s.
