Created in the early 1900's, Alpha Kappa Delta is a society for students, faculty, and community members, who have achieved and continue to maintain high standards of academic excellence, and are interested in the social issues of the world. 
 
Do you want to join AKD?

If so, the requirements are:

1. Must be an officially declared sociology major or have demonstrated a serious interest in sociology, such as a minor in sociology.
2. Must be at least a junior, or have completed four regular courses in sociology prior to application.
3. Must have maintained an overall 3.0 GPA in sociology courses.
4. Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA in all university courses.
   
   

If you meet the requirements, see Dr. Sharon K. Araji, AKD Director (SSB 373).  You will need to get a copy of your GPA from enrollment services, prepare a $40 check made out to AKD, and provide a typed note with your name as you wish it to appear on your AKD certificate, your address, phone number, and email address. There will be an initiation banquet in Spring 2004.
