Secretos Bajo la Piel  (Secrets Under the Skin) will open at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts, San Francisco Wednesday May 14, 2014 and will run through Friday, June 27, 2014. Please join us for the opening reception May 14 and artists’ talk May 15. Please see below for details:

Opening reception: Wednesday, May 14 2014, 6:00-9:00.
Music at the reception: “En Clave” Cuban rumba and folklore with Jesus Díaz, Sandy Pérez and friends

Artists’ Talk: Thursday May 15, 2014: 6:30-8:30.
Admission: $5

Artists Jill Flanders Crosby and Brian Jeffery of Anchorage, Alaska, Marianne Kim of Tucson, Arizona, and Susan Matthews of Oakland will be present to discuss issues relating to their various art forms and the nature of their collaborative process as they researched the ongoing cultural connections between Cuba, Ghana, and Togo.   Photos of Cuban and African collaborators and research sites will provide context for the installation, which includes large-scale videos, photographs, large scale paintings, illuminated manuscripts, conceptual sculpture and live performance.
