The bridge is a symbol of what Student Support Services seeks to provide for each student:
- Stability: For both traditional and non-traditional students, the demands of college culture can become overwhelming. Just as a footbridge remains stable and unwavering beneath a traveler’s feet, SSS seeks to be a stable point of reliability, mentoring and encouragement for all of our students.
- Support: Bridges serve as a place where individuals stop, rest, and reflect. Helping students to think through course and degree choices is essential in accomplishing our mission.
- Direction: Bridges are bi-directional and typically have only one entrance and exit point. The decision to enter postsecondary education, much like crossing a bridge, will result in an inevitable exit. The goal of SSS is to motivate each student to persist and exit their degree program through graduation.
