In order to provide student services professionals within the divisions of student affairs with opportunities to gain additional assessment skills, the ACPA ASK Standards will be used as framework to gauge and design professional development needs and opportunities. Developed by the ACPA Commission for Assessment for Student Development, the ASK standards seek to articulate the areas of content knowledge and skills student affairs professional need in order to assess the degree to which their services/programs are meeting their intended outcome(s). Simply put, the content standards answer the question, "What do student affairs professionals need to know in order to do assessment?" It is suggested that all student affairs staff download the booklet (link below) and review each of the thirteen content areas.

Next, we ask that you complete the ACPA ASK Standards Needs Assessment (link below). This will help you determine the areas of assessment you feel most knowledgeable about as well as where you might benefit from learning more. Completion of the self-assessment will also help you identify workshops, brown bag sessions, and reading materials that will provide you with the most useful professional development. Please take a moment to complete the assessment today!
