Originally from Massachusetts, and having raised their family in suburban Chicago and Dallas, Susan and her husband relocated to Anchorage in 2005. They have enjoyed their experience living in Alaska and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest, but their favorite destinations these days are Austin and Houston, Texas where their daughters, husbands and grandchildren all reside.
During her career as an educator, Susan has held positions as a high school social studies and learning disabilities teacher in Massachusetts, Ohio, and Illinois. She has also worked as a lead instructor for a private psychiatric hospital in Texas. She was a Business and English as a Second Language instructor at Aurora University and Waubonsee Community College in suburban Chicago for ten years. Prior to her move to Alaska and joining the staff of the Student Health & Counseling Center, she was the Office and Inside Sales Manager for the USA Director of Sales, for a Swedish telecommunications manufacturer.
Susan loves working with the staff and students at UAA and she looks forward to receiving several more years of “education” from them, because now she is the student and that’s a “good thing”!
