UAA Advocacy Resources

The University of Alaska Anchorage is a critical asset that serves to elevate prosperity for all Alaskans. Its vast array of educational opportunities is unsurpassed in the state. It is a foundation for economic development, stability and prosperity, particularly in Anchorage, where more than 30,000 of its 50,000-plus alumni work and live. UAA's community of students, faculty and staff also contribute to Alaska's well-being in a wide spectrum of tangible and intangible ways—from spending money at local restaurants and businesses to developing ideas that become the seeds for new companies, products or services. FY2020 Budget Advocacy and Outreach

On Friday, June 28, in a move described by UA President Johnsen as "devastating," Gov. Dunleavy vetoed $130M from UA's state-funded budget – the largest cut in the university’s 100-year history. If the veto isn't overridden by a three-fourths majority of legislators, unprecedented decisions will need to be made regarding university programs – programs that are an essential part of our state and an important investment in Alaska’s future. Now is the critical time to contact your legislators and tell your amazing UAA story and let your voice be heard! #UAStrong #SupportUA

Alaska is a great state that deserves a great university. Please voice your support for UAA! There are additional advocacy resources available on the the FY2020 Operating Budget and UA Office of Government Relations pages.
