Contract & Cancellation Info

The office of University Housing and the University of Alaska Anchorage offers three types of housing contracts:

  • Academic Year Agreement (fall and spring semesters)
  • Spring Semester Only Agreement (spring semester)
  • Summer Semester Agreement (one or both summer sessions)

Students can apply for housing anytime during the year and rates will be prorated depending on the actual move-in date. 

Housing fees are charged per semester for Academic Year agreements. Please notify the Housing Office by completing a cancellation form on your UAA Housing Self-Service page if you will only be at UAA for one semester. Students who are graduating after the fall semester or who are participating in a semester-only national or international exchange program may have mid-year cancellation fees waived at the discretion of the Director of Housing, Dining and Conference Services. All other mid-year cancellations are subject to penalties according to Section One - Agreement Cancellations and Release Schedule.  

If there are circumstances that may prevent you from meeting the obligation of your Housing and Dining Agreement, you may appeal the agreement cancellation charges by completing an Exception to Housing Agreement form and submitting that form to the Housing Office no later than 30 days after the start of the semester following the semester in which cancellation fees would apply. 

When you apply for campus housing, you are agreeing to the terms of the Housing Contract. To cancel this Contract, you must complete a Cancellation Form on your UAA Housing Self-Service page. Cancellations are subject to charges as shown in Section One - Agreement Cancellation and Release Schedule.

*Cancellation of housing will also result in the termination of your dining plan. If you wish to retain your dining plan, you must specify this in writing at the time of housing cancellation.
