Campus Crime (Clery) Report

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act is a federal mandate requiring all institutions of higher education (IHE's) that participate in the federal student financial aid program to disclose information about crime on their campuses and in the surrounding communities. The Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013, requires campuses include sexual assault, sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking in these reports.

The Clery Act also requires institutions to provide timely warnings of crimes that represent a threat to the community and publish their campus security policies. This mandate affects virtually all public and private IHE's and is enforced by the U.S. Department of Education (ED). Campuses that fail to comply with the act can be penalized with large fines and may be suspended from participating in the federal financial aid program.
