Help Provide Research Relevant to Alaska and to the Arctic Region

At UAA, actionable research on pressing issues like the impacts of climate change directly affects and benefits Alaska, and the Alaskan way of life. Research Relevant to Alaska and to the Arctic Region drives UAA to develop applied solutions to address Alaska’s biggest challenges. To respond to the rapid pace of change in our state and solve problems for our communities, investment will be critical to our ability to conduct research. To focus on actionable research and become a true partner to industry and to federal, state and municipal agencies, we will:

  • Develop or enhance sustainable research programs that improve the economic and social well-being of Alaskans. Focus on research that informs Alaska Economic, Educational, Health Care, and Arctic Policy through the Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER). Funds are needed to support the faculty, fellows, and students that drive this research.
  • Foster high-impact undergraduate research by formalizing and strengthening our undergraduate research program through a dedicated director of undergraduate research and faculty support.
  • Endow chairs and professorships in key research areas such as public policy, engineering, entrepreneurship, global logistics, women’s studies, business analysis and health care.

The UAA Development team hosted For Alaska: A Virtual Speaker Series with UAA and featured Faculty and Staff who discussed Critical Research for Alaska. Here is the video to that series talk.
