Art Student Association

The Art Student Association (ASA) is a club that is inclusive to all that are interested in the visual arts.  The ASA fosters a sense of community here at UAA where a student can cultivate ideas, engage in critiques, and share information with colleagues. Additionally, the ASA strives to provide opportunities and workshops for students such as Saturday night life-drawing sessions and community outreach projects. Ultimately, we empower young artists to let their voices be heard and their visions seen.

ASA Mural 2016

Gorsuch Commons Commission.

In 2016, the ASA partnered with members of the Housing and Residence Life administrative team to establish the “Mural Legacy Project” in which Fine Arts students will create a series of murals to be installed in the Gorsuch Commons. For the inaugural project, 16 artists collaborated to make a depiction of the UAA campus map. Each student had their own canvas on which they rendered their interpretation. Once completed, the 16 individual canvases were installed together to create a finished large scale map. The completed painting represents the connection that the students have to one another and recognizes the unique nature that each artist possesses.
