Biography

Kristy Summers was born and raised in the midwest and found her way to Alaska in 2014. She graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Kansas in 2002, and her Master of Fine Arts degree from Alfred University in 2006. Following her studies at Alfred University, Summers was awarded a fine arts fellowship position at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she continued to work as a visiting assistant professor of sculpture and 3D foundations. Summers has been included in a number of exhibitions throughout the US in sculpture parks, city outdoor sculpture programs, as well as in universities and galleries. Summers has completed multiple large-scale commissions for the Botanic Garden of Chicago and the Peggy Notebart Nature museum, participated in and co-led residency programs at Franconia Sculpture Park, was part of the steering committee for the International Conference of Cast Iron Art in Latvia, 2014.
