UAA Campus is Open

We are pleased to report the UAA Anchorage campus will open on Wednesday, Dec. 5, following last Friday's earthquake. The Chugiak-Eagle River Campus will remain closed, but classes will resume in alternative locations. Students should check UAOnline for their new meeting location. As you return to campus, we encourage you to check the web page uaa.alaska.edu/earthquakerecovery for important safety tips and resources about how to submit work requests to facilities for repairs. This lecture is going to discuss John Haines poems through a Chinese lens.  Explored are the influences of Chinese poets in John Haines’ early poems and the challenges in translating them into Chinese.

Tao

A Legendary Chinese Poetess and Courtesan---Xue Tao

Location: UAA Bookstore Loft

Xue Tao (A.D. 768-831) was well known as a poet in an age when all men of learning were poets--and almost all women were illiterate. But in the meanwhile, she also possessed another two identities, which achieved her legendary life and meandering love.
