What is data science?
Data science is an interdisciplinary field that extracts knowledge and meaning from data through exploration, visualization, and prediction. These insights help to ask and answer questions like what happened, why it happened, what will happen, and what can be done with the results. Why is data science important?
Our world is inundated with data. Modern devices collect and store text, audio, video, and image data in vast quantities. Data science can transform this data providing insights to virtually any industry from healthcare to finance, commerce to geology, and arts to education.Data science is one of the top growing fields with a 35% projected job growth over the next decade.
