The Rural Alaska Honors Institute (RAHI) is a 6-week bridging program that assists students from rural Alaska in making the academic and social transition between high school and college.  It takes place on the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) campus and students live in a UAF Residence Hall. All students take writing and study skills courses and choose elective courses such as geoscience, education, biochemistry, pre-calculus or business management. Students also have the opportunity to choose optional classes such as web design and Alaska Native dance. Students can earn up to 10 college credits. RAHI was organized by UAF to serve rural and Alaska Native high school honors students. To be eligible to apply, students need to plan to finish their junior or senior years, have a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and be committed to earning a college degree.
