Program Overview

The UAA Dental Assisting program prepares students to become skilled members of a dental health care team. We offer a 34-credit undergraduate certificate program and a 60-credit Associate of Applied Science Degree.  The Dental Assisting program selects students each May to start dental assisting courses in August, Associate degree students can begin taking support courses in any semester.

What is dental assisting?

The duties of the dental assistant are among the most comprehensive and varied in the dental office. The dental assistant performs a wide range of tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills.  Assistants greatly increase the efficiency of the dentist in the delivery of oral health care and are valuable members of the dental care team.
