What is Dental Assisting?
The duties of the dental assistant are among the most comprehensive and varied in
the dental office. The dental assistant performs a wide range of tasks requiring both
interpersonal and technical skills. Assistants greatly increase the efficiency of
the dentist in the delivery of oral health care and are valuable members of the dental
care team.
Message from the Director
The UAA Dental Assisting Program provides an exciting opportunity to those interested in the dental profession. Our program is a great option for individuals looking for a rewarding lifelong career or for those seeking an entry-level option while working toward another dental or health profession. The students in this program walk away with the skills necessary to perform tasks as a dental assistant, but also the skills to operate as a professional within the industry. While in the program students will work closely with local dentists and assistants, they will practice interview skills, charting skills and more. Moreover, our graduates are highly marketable because they have taken the necessary steps to educate themselves through a CODA -accredited program.
