Biography
Dr. Jill Janke has been a nurse for 35 plus years and held a variety of positions. She was a Peace Corp volunteer in Honduras, an Itinerant Public Health Nurse in rural Alaska, a community health and STD nurse in Anchorage, as well as a maternal-newborn staff nurse. Her areas of expertise are human lactation, maternal-newborn nursing, biostatistics, and instrument development. She is a licensed and NCC certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Janke is a full professor at the University of Alaska Anchorage. As a prior Program Chair, she has been active with program assessment and accreditation. She is an active member of and volunteer for the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN). She has served as chair and secretary treasurer for the Alaska AWHONN chapter and has also served nationally on the AWHONN Board of Directors. In addition, Dr. Janke is a reviewer for the AWHONN Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing (JOGNN)) and is the science team leader for the original development and writing of the AWHONN Evidence Based Guideline to Breastfeeding, as well as its subsequent revisions. She has served as the AWHONN representative for the Excellence in Pediatrics International Summit on Breastfeeding.Research Interests
