The Alaska Office of Children’s Services (OCS) in partnership with the UAA School of Social Work extends its invitation to students in Social Work, Human Services, and Justice as well as other disciplines to apply for professional positions in child welfare now open in the State of Alaska. 

 
As an emerging or experienced professional in social work, justice, counseling, psychology, or human services consider a career in child welfare practice in Alaska. The Alaska Office of Children’s Services (OCS) is searching for promising professionals who will advance its mission of “Safe children, Strong families.” The work of OCS is critical in helping families nurture children, so consider bringing your personal qualities, experiences, and professional skills to OCS.
 
Protective Service Specialists, one of many position classifications within the agency, have a wide range of duties, including investigating reports of abuse and/or neglect, making referrals to partnering agencies, and providing ongoing assistance to families who may require considerable support. 
 
Through your professional work in children’s services, you will collaborate closely with tribal partners, and community leaders, and you will grow as a specialist offering critical assistance to children and families in need, providing case management, and serving as a colleague working within collaborative child-centered teams. You will have considerable and frequent contact with other professionals, parents, and caregivers. Your work will be meaningful, and you will gain competencies in self-care, collaboration, treatment and service planning, sophisticated technology-enhanced case management, and in working closely with children and families.

Annual base salary that starts at $47,712 with regular increases up to $117,456. The starting base salary varies with location. You can enhance your salary by selecting a posting to a high need area of the State of Alaska.
