UAA offers contact tracing certification as COVID-19 cases climb
Across the country, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases continues to see dramatic increases as communities slowly implement reopening phases. At the time of this writing, Alaska recorded its largest single-day increase of 44 infections, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases to 973 since the pandemic began.

For many Alaskans, getting reliable access to quality health care is a dream, not reality. What can be done to change that? One piece of the puzzle: Helping students in health care programs go on to be successful professionals across our state. On Alaska Public Media's "Talk of Alaska" radio show, we hear from Gloria Burnett on the innovative ways the College of Health is preparing future health care professionals in a range of fields, from clinical practice to population health.
Looking down the road
How integral is Providence to Alaska? Not only does the hospital make up the second half of the namesake UMED District, but the organization is the largest non-government employer in the state, naturally resulting in the employment of a large number of UAA nursing and surgical technology alumni.
