As another flu season begins and the coronavirus pandemic continues, UAA/ISU Doctor of Pharmacy students took to the streets as part of the Alaska Assisted Living Home Immunization Program (AK ALH) to protect some of Anchorage’s most vulnerable people.
Pharmacy students fan out across Anchorage to bring flu shots, COVID-19 boosters to assisted living facilities
Students from the Doctor of Pharmacy Program, which is offered jointly by UAA and Idaho State University (ISU), understand the personal and historical significance of vaccinating Alaskans against COVID-19. This has left them feeling grateful and excited after they administered hundreds of vaccine doses to senior citizens.
Duane Wood is, a P1 student in the UAA/ISU Doctor of Pharmacy program and originally from a small Alaskan island town of about 800 people called Klawock, reflects on his journey into pharmacy.
