Academics

The Transportation & Power Division is home to the Automotive Technology and Diesel Power Technology programs and the Welding & Nondestructive Testing Technology program. Each program contains various levels of degrees and certificates to fit your career goals.

Automotive Technology Website  - The Automotive Technology program prepares students to understand theory, diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, transaxles, suspension, steering, brake systems, electrical/electronic systems, heating and air conditioning systems, as well as fuel and ignition systems of modern vehicles. The AAS degree and undergraduate certificate are accredited by Automotive Service Excellence
(ASE) Education Foundation.

Diesel Power Technology Website - The Diesel Power Technology program teaches students the skills needed to be successful as technicians in the medium and heavy duty truck and equipment service industry. Laboratory experiences are performed on equipment and components currently used in the heavy duty transportation, construction and power generation industries. The AAS degree and undergraduate certificate are accredited by the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Education Foundation.

Welding Technology Website - The Welding Technology program prepares students with the technical expertise, safety discipline, and hands-on experience required for entry-level employment in the industrial welding sector. Through industry-aligned training we expose, train, and test students to identical weld tests given by industry, for the purposes of employment. Committed to strengthening Alaska’s economy, we actively support the placement of educated, skilled, job-ready welders into the state’s workforce, empowering students to build sustainable careers while meeting critical industry needs.
