Resilient Communities in Transition: Imaginative Territory

This is a special call for proposals for travel to Havana, Cuba. Students need to have the ability to envision and plan their own short-term independent research project exploring the theme of Resilient Communities in Transition: Imagination Territory.

OURS Grants & Awards, Fall 2018-Spring 2019

  • Alaska Heart Institute Fellowship: Made possible by a major gift from the Alaska Cardiovascular Research Foundation, these awards fund significant undergraduate biomedical research projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor. 
    Deadline is Wednesday, March 29, 2019

  • Fran Ulmer Transformative Research Award:  These grants fund significant undergraduate research and creative projects in areas with the potential to transform the way we live, work, and see the world.  Broad topics of particular interest include Sustainability, Complexity, Climate Change, and Social and Public Policy.  
    Deadline is Friday, March 1, 2019

  • Undergraduate Research Grants: Undergraduate Research Grants fund significant undergraduate research or creative projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor. This year there are two independent grant review cycles per semester.
    Fall Deadlines are Monday, October 8, 2018 and Friday, December 14, 2018(extended from Dec. 7 due to earthquake).
    Spring Deadlines are Friday, March 1, 2019 and Friday, April 26, 2019.

  • Undergraduate Research in the Community Award: This award supports projects that actively involve and meet the needs of community partners. 
    Fall Deadlines are Monday, October 8, 2018 and Friday, December 14, 2018(extended from Dec. 7 due to earthquake).
    Spring Deadlines are Friday, March 1, 2019 and Friday, April 26, 2019.

  • ISER Policy Research Award: These awards are presented to outstanding students in the social sciences and other applicable fields interested in the analysis of public policy issues.  
    Fall Deadline is Monday, October 22, 2018.
    Spring Deadline is Friday, March 29, 2019.

  • Student Conference on United States Affairs (SCUSA)SCUSA is a conference devoted to international relations, economics, political science, and related social science fields. Delegates participate in round table discussions and generate policy proposal papers on a variety of current issues. Full funding is available to UAA students, selected through a compeititve application process.

  • Meissner Creativity Award in the Visual Arts: This award consists of a $1000 prize which will be awarded to one student each year for an outstanding project in the visual arts.
    Deadline is Friday, March 29, 2019.

  • Consortium Library Award for Undergraduate Research: This award lauds an exemplary undergraduate research project from any discipline which demonstrates evidence of significant scholarly investigation and utilization of library resources, print as well as electronic.
    Deadline is Monday, March 18, 2019.

  • Discovery Grants: The Discovery Grants contribute support to ongoing undergraduate research and creative projects. Students may apply for Discovery Grants on a year round basis via the online application process.

  • OURS/Alaska INBRE Undergraduate Research AssistantshipThis assistantship provides support for a project in the biomedical sciences and health with mentorship from UAA biomedical or health faculty. Students funded through this program will gain valuable experience in designing, conducting and reporting biomedical research.   Application Form
