  • The Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFE) uses a colleague-to-colleague model to promote excellence and innovation in teaching and learning. Through one-time and multi-part workshops, professional development events, and special opportunities, we help faculty network with others in collegial settings to develop strategies that promote student success and cross-disciplinary understanding. CAFE is a resource that serves and supports all faculty (part-time, term, tenure track) on all five UAA campuses.

  •  Rasmusen Hall: Location of the 2019 Fall Teaching Academy

    2019 Fall Teaching Academy

CAFE supports student success and excellence in teaching, learning, and career development through a combination of services including Teaching Academy and Intensive events, learning communities and series, periodic workshops, and individual consultations. Held each fall and winter just prior to the start of the term, Teaching Academy represents an opportunity to take advantage of faculty development programming when you're not facing the pressures associated with the regular semester. Built on a conference-style schedule, Teaching Academy sessions bring faculty colleagues together from departments across the institution. Led by centers and entities across the institution, sessions are designed to deepen your familiarity with evidence-based teaching practices, help you better interface with students, highlight success stories from other faculty, introduce new pedagogies, and improve your implementation of the latest academic technologies. Sessions are offered both face-to-face and via distance.
