UAA offers English classes in Anchorage, at regional satellite campuses and online. You can earn a bachelor’s in English degree by taking all face-to-face classes or a hybrid of the two.

Their specialties include the history of English in Alaska, discourse analysis, language and aging, science and nature writing, medievalism, African-American literature, popular culture and digital gaming.

Use advanced technology in the English department’s Digital Composition Studio (D.C.S.). Featuring a recording booth for voiceovers and podcasts, this high-tech computer lab is a collaborative space to create multi-modal projects. The D.C.S. is also equipped with computer stations that include microphones, headphones and advanced software, as well as access to UAA’s ePortfolio program and free website building tools, so you can freely create podcasts, websites, visual essays, digital posters and more.

UAA’s English M.A. coursework combines a series of required classes with optional
electives to build on your undergraduate experience while helping you explore your
own academic interests.
The program begins with topics in English studies, style and stylistics, texts and contexts, research writing and critical theory and culminates in either an independent project or a thesis.
