From orientation to graduation, it is expected that you will meet with an academic advisor. At UAA, it is recommended that all Anchorage students meet with an academic advisor on a regular basis.

As a newly admitted student, you can meet with an advisor during the New Student Orientation program called Howl Days. Student who attend Howl Days are able to connect with advisors and student leaders to learn important information about placement exams, general education requirements, and academic policies. At UAA, it is recommended that you consult with your academic advisor at least once a semester.


Academic Deadlines & Policies

Every semester, there are important deadlines for enrolled students that may require meeting with an advisor. Speaking with an advisor about decisions related to your class schedule is important, especially if signatures are required on university forms.

Course Registration

Registering for courses is an excellent time to meet with an academic advisor. It is a good idea to schedule an appointment with your advisor at least 10 days in advance, prior to your specific registration period.


Change of Major

Thinking about changing your major: Meet with advisor to explore program offerings and career choices. Advisors are able to assist students with planning a course of study in light of changing personal goals and overall academic performance.


Graduation Requirements

To earn a Bachelor's degree from UAA, you must earn at least 120 credits. Some colleges and majors may require more than 120 credit hours. In addition to the 120 credit hours, you may need to meet additional requirement specific to cumulative GPA as well as academic progress. Meeting with you academic advisor will ensure you understand all graduation requirements.
