DOC Sex Offender Treatment Provider Training (FY15)

Principal Investigator: Kristen Mitchell-Box, Ph.D.
This project is funded by Reimbursable Services Agreement RS/EN #2052006.

The Center for Behavioral Health Research and Services (CBHRS) received a Reimbursable Services Agreement from the State of Alaska Department of Corrections (DOC) to collaborate on offering regular training opportunities for the assessment and treatment of sexual offenders.  The goals of this project are to increase the number of professionals pursuing a career in sex offender treatment and enhance the skills of those professionals already providing such services. The workshops will include a series of three half-day workshops and one 2-day workshop conducted by an Alaska-based or national expert.  Topics may include:  ethics, confidentiality, substance abuse, healthy sexuality, self-care and pornography.

This agreement has the specific purpose of:
  • collaborating on a series of workshops during 2014-2015
  • facilitating graduate students pursuing careers in sex offender treatment.
