Promoting Careers in the Arts for Individuals with Disabilities

Alaska has a thriving arts community that spans the varying landscapes and cultures of our diverse and sizable state. The ARTS project aims to engage this thriving arts community and a variety of stakeholders from across the state in planning, developing, and implementing activities that promote careers in the arts for people with disabilities.

Forums on Careers in the Arts for Individuals with Disabilities

CHD is partnering with the Alaska State Council on the Arts (ASCA) on a grant awarded through the National Endowment for the Arts and National Arts and Disability Center to support the first step in the ARTS project, implementing career forums across the state. The purpose of these forums is to

  1. Identify education and career opportunities and obstacles for artists and arts administrators with disabilities

  2. Develop strategies to navigate obstacles and advance careers in the arts for individuals with disabilities
