Academic Workforce Programs (AWP)

The mission of the Academic Workforce Programs is to increase the availability and competency of Direct Service Professionals who support individuals with disabilities throughout the state of Alaska.  Academic programs are distance delivered allowing working professionals to remain in their home communities while pursuing higher education.


Children's Behavioral Health OEC 

A sixteen (16) credit Undergraduate Occupational Endorsement Certificate (OEC) for people who work with kids with challenging behaviors or mental health diagnoses.


Direct Service Specialist Occupational Endorsement (DSSOE)

The Prince William Sound Community College Direct Service Specialist Occupational Endorsement Certificate (PWSCC DSSOE) is a 17-credit program for paraprofessionals currently working or planning to work with children, youth and/or adults who typically experience developmental or other significant disabilities in residential, day habilitation or employment training settings. Students complete the endorsement with 6 distance delivered core courses and 2 electives (5 credits). We attempt to provide the majority of our students receive some type of Financial Aid.

Disablity Specialty courses for the PWSCC Associate Degree

Distance-delivered courses are available for people who provide community, family, workplace, educational, speech-language, or respite support to children or adults with disabilities, and are thinking of a career in disability services. These specialty courses lead to an Associate Degree in Disability Services in three emphasis areas: Educational Support, Community Support and Speech-Language Support.


LEND - Alaska LEND Without Walls

Alaska LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) provides graduate-level interdisciplinary leadership training for individuals who have a commitment to providing family-centered coordinated systems of health care and related services.
