Dr. Sharon Gagnon

Dr. Sharon Gagnon  Sharon Gagnon has been an active leader in higher education in Alaska and nationally.  Before serving on the University of Alaska Board of Regents from 1991 to 1999, Sharon was an advocate and supporter for UAA. In 1985, UAA dedicated Sharon Gagnon Lane at the student housing complex as recognition for her work on behalf of the university.  She served as President of the Board of Regents and is currently Vice President of the University of Alaska Foundation, where she has served since 1991.

A member of Board of Overseers of Harvard University from 1995 to 2001, Sharon served as President during 2000-2001 and was a member of the Harvard Presidential Search Committee. In 2002, She received the Harvard Medal for outstanding alumni. Her board memberships in Alaska include The CIRI Foundation and The Nature Conservancy. Nationally, she is on board of the  Federation of State Humanities Councils.

A Fulbright Scholar to France, Sharon holds a Ph.D. in French Literature from Harvard University.

Sharon also chairs the UAA Honors College Advisory Board.
