Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering at UAA offers an ABET accredited curriculum leading to a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Graduates of the program are trained and fully prepared for an engineering career in Alaska and other cold regions of the world.

During their first two years of study, engineering students are introduced to the basic principles of mathematics, chemistry, and physics. The third year of study is largely devoted to courses in the engineering sciences. These courses are extensions of the basic sciences (studied in the first two years) and provide the foundation for engineering analysis and design. In the senior year, students specialize within their chosen discipline and draw upon previous learning to focus their studies on creative design and analysis through projects.
