New Seward Highway from 36th Avenue to 20th Avenue
The intersection at 36th Avenue has been determined to be the most congested in the State. These delays and inefficient flow may have costs to the travelling public that could be significantly decreased. The traveling public includes drivers of private vehicles, drivers of commercial vehicles, users of public transportation, pedestrians, bicycle commuters etc.
The objective of this project is to provide improved traffic flows and pedestrian safety on New Seward Highway (NSH) from 36th Avenue to 20th Avenue. The current LOS of E is unacceptable and must be improved. Design life for this project is 20 years. Under the current funding program we cannot afford to reconstruct this entire corridor in one project; therefore 36th Avenue shall be constructed first with the remainder of the corridor to be built in the near future.
